JESUS IN MY LIVING ROOM

A Form of Prayer:

Another type of right brain prayer, some all it a guided prayer form, is as follows.

"You might want to get into a comfortable position.

Whatever position is relaxing for you.

Maybe you'll want to drop your shoulders and let all your thoughts and worries roll out of your head and off your shoulders.

You need not worry about forgetting about them, if you need them, they'll come back.

We have all had times when we felt relaxed.

  • and there are many ways to relax
  • sipping a cup of tea
  • sitting quietly on the couch
  • rocking in a comfortable rocking chair
  • and... I wonder in what particular way you might choose to relax?

Just let everything flow out to feel empty.

Imagine you are in that relaxed position, maybe sitting on your couch or wherever that favorite special place is for you. Maybe it's a garden, or by the shore, or by a stream. I don't know where that will be for you, but you know.

As you sit there relaxing, you see out of your own eyes, Jesus walking toward you.

He comes over and sits down next to you.

He looks you right in the eye and says... "The one thing that is bothering you the most in your life right now, tell me about it."

Tell him about it: how you see it, how it sounds to you, how you feel about it, tell him your biggest worry.....

I'll be quiet for a while so you can focus on telling Jesus what you want to tell him...

  • [Pause for a couple of minutes...]

And now... Listen to what He has to say to you about your problems and your feelings.....

I'll be quiet for a while so you can focus on listening to what Jesus is about to share with you...

Just open your heart and mind to Him.

  • [Pause for a couple of minutes...]

And now... hear Him saying to you:

  • "I'm sorry you are troubled, because I love you. When good things happen to you I am happy. When troubles come to you I feel sad. You don't have to change the person you are right now, for me to love you. When you sin or forget me, I don't stop loving you. It makes me sad, but it doesn't make me stop loving you. I will always love you, even to the end of time."

Then Jesus gets up and turns toward you and says: "When you need me, call me, I'm only a thought away" and He departs for now, until you desire Him to return.

As you begin to come back to the room here, you will notice a feeling of inner peace, calmness, a feeling of being rested, refreshed, and awake and alert.

When you are ready, you might want to return to the room as you notice the feeling of the chair against your back, or maybe the souns of those around you.

You can open your eyes now, as you are ready.

Keeping a relationship with god, provides a whol different attitude toward life's problems and the troubles that life brings.

Peace is not the absence of trouble, Peace is the presence of God.
