LOCAL CHURCHES

Ask people to pray for individual concerns, maybe prayer chain, or ask Pastor to pray

Meetings focused on tasks

Devotion

Intercessors: Ask Intercessors to pray for the Body of Christ

Neighbors: Ask Individuals to pray for their Neighbors

Relationships: Meetings focused on God, Others, then tasks (Using the Faithful Format - Relationships first!)

Hope folks "get something" out of the sermon, maybe a "Bible Study" (Information from one point of view) for those interested!

Discipleship

Training:
  • Alpha (or similar) Course run by Team (Focus on Faith)
  • Omega (or similar) Course run by Team (Focus on Gifts and Call)

[As People realize Gifts and Call - lead Small Groups, become Mentors, lead Team ministries - see: Deployment below]

Some folks get involved in church or community, tend to burn out or get tired!

Deployment

People involved in Church or Community only as Gifts and Call apply.

Support Team available for them: Mentoring, Small Group, Deployment Team, or create a Task Team!

Other Issues

Focus is on membership and their personal needs; Focus is on helping people to pray, find their gifts and call;
  • Some will be gifted to help membership with personal needs;
  • Some will be gifted to be a part of Church Teams for ministry and training;
  • Some will be gifted for Community Teams using their gifts and responding to their call in Community/World needs and issues of Justice & Peace
Pastor "does" ministry; People "do" ministry, Pastor "trains" folks for ministry / Mentor, Mentor, Mentor!!!
Church Members act like Customers Church Members act like part of Staff Team
Pastor visits hospitals & homes Pastor trains Team of gifted people to visit hospitals & homes
Pastor makes a home visit just to say hello! Pastor makes a home visit for the specific purpose of asking this person to be a part of the prayer ministry (an Intercessor) to hold up the ministry in prayer.
Pastor conducts Nursing Home Service Pastor trains Team of gifted people to conduct Nursing Home Service
Confirmation led by Pastor Confirmads mentored by Team members trained by Pastor
Pastor Preaches each Sunday Pastor Coaches Gifted members to preach once a month or more!
Pastors do things by themselves Pastor Mentors someone else for every phase of ministry they are currently involved in!

ASSOCIATIONS
Are Churches praying for one another? (In bulletin, individually?)

Devotion

Intercessors: Generate a list of those with the Gift of Intercession from the entire Association. Encourage their prayer support for the success of the Association.
  • Newsletter or E-mail list to keep one another in prayer re: process of Shifting from Moses to Jethro
  • Prayers are lifted up for "Laborers for the Harvest" and especially God's blessings on the Planting of new Churches in our area

Neighbors: List each church in Association in Bulletin to keep in prayer (and those geographically close that are of different denominations!)

Relationships: Churches encouraged to move from Committees to Teams and from Tasks to Relationships then Tasks

Is there any Training provided by the Association for churches?

Discipleship

Training: Association offers training to Church Teams in the Alpha (faith related) and Omega (gifts & call) - Training for Discipleship

Each Church that is experiencing blessings in one of the Phases or Steps, is always open for other church teams to "Come and See"

Association sponsors training in the Phases and Steps so interested Churches can get on board. (Others are shown how to do Devotion, Discipleship, & Deployment)

When is the last time an Association celebrated a New Church in the area? (200 years ago!) :-)

Deployment

Association provides the guidance for churches to either grow, or plant new churches. Those that are experiencing these blessings, train those that are interested. Association helps this to happen

Other Issues

Focus is on Clergy: Who's in / Who's out / Who wants to be in! Focus is on Churches and the Discipleship Goals set by the Association: Phases I, II, & III and Steps in each Phase
Individual Churches send representatives to vote (most over 60) Churches send Teams to meetings to share success stories or needs (ages range from teens to 80s+)
Committee on Ministry focuses on Clergy,

Association business is primarily voting based upon Ministry Committee recommendations

Committee on Ministry could still focus on Clergy

Association could spend most of their time encouraging and researching one another in how they are doing in the Phases and Steps of moving from a Moses Model to a Jethro / Jesus Model

Struggle to get a quorum! Have to rent out larger rooms to hold the people that want to come and share what their church is doing and to find out how God is blessing their neighbor churches!

DENOMINATIONAL STAFF
Praying for Pastors, Churches, special needs.

Devotion

Intercessors: Find 3-5 to keep your ministry and the Denomination in their prayers, Encourage Pastors to do the same for their churches!

Neighbors: Model praying for your Neighbor locally (where you live) and for those you view as your "job related" neighbors like staff, from a denominational perspective (Associations, local churches, other denominations and their staff, etc.)

Relationships: Model Faithful Format in all meetings and events (Relationships first / with God and one another, then tasks!)

Lift personal concerns for church or individuals up on letters or e-mail so others can keep these in prayer

Responding to all the many needs of Pastors and Churches

Discipleship

Training: Teams of Gifted people to deal with areas of Crisis in the lives of Pastors and Churches:
  • Counseling Teams
  • Search Teams
  • Training Teams to assist Associations in Phases & Steps
  • Response Teams to deal with vacant situations, before Interim arrives
  • Vision Teams
Deploy themselves to deal with issues and crisis

Deployment

Support and encouragement for Teams as they conduct their ministry to Pastors and Churches

Other Issues

Focus on churches and their personal needs. (Churches looking for Clergy, dealing with crisis, problem solving.) Focus on Team building of Clergy in geographical areas.

(Training them in the Phases and Steps of applying a Jethro / Jesus model of ministry in their settings.)

Staff "does" ministry Staff "trains" those with gifts to "do" ministry

(i.e. Gifted & Trained Teams of Faithful (laity) responding to personal needs of Churches)

Churches act like Customers Churches are part of the Conference Team to train the Laborers for the Harvest, working their way through the Phases:
  • Phase I: "Get Ready" (TEAMS!)
    • Devotion - Prayer Ministries
    • Discipleship - Training Ministries
    • Deployment - Church & Community Ministries
  • Phase II: Add a Contemporary Worship;
  • Phase III: Plant a church!
Conference Staff: (Reactive role)
  • Connect with Clergy / Churches / Associations
  • A visual presence
Conference Staff: (Training toward Discipling role)
  • Build relationship with Clergy & Church Leaders
  • Gather willing Clergy & Church Leaders into geographical Teams
  • Teams experience the Phase I - Steps with the understanding that they will share their experience with their individual churches as they feel called to do
    • Local Church Small Group Formed
    • They Experience Phase I - Steps
    • They lead their Church in the Process

NATIONAL OFFICE STAFF
New Design Getting Started:

Not sure what their new focus is or will be

Devotion

Intercessors: Find 3-5 people to pray for your personally and for your area of ministry

Neighbors: Pray for those that live next to you, staff members, whoever else you would associate as "neighbor" in your specific area of ministry

Relationships: Model and practice the Faithful Format in all your meetings and events

Individuals responding to needs as they come up? Either with individual churches or with a Conference. However, once presenter leaves, there is no TEAM left behind to continue to support the churches in that conference unless that presenter can be rescheduled to come back in the future!

Discipleship

Training:
  • Training Teams developed at National Level
  • Find a Church willing to "Test" Phase I & Steps

Teams practice Experiencing Phase I and Steps 1,2,3 with a Local Church - use feedback to plan Training of Conference Teams

Regional Meetings Conducted to deal with various needs / concerns of the Church. However to be updated or involve new churches (that missed out on the first offering) you would have to redo the regional meeting.

Deployment

Teams fan out to willing Conferences to Train "Discipling Teams" for each Conference
  • Goal of National Teams is to train Conference Teams
  • Goal of Conference Teams is to offer services to Local Churches
    • See Denomination Above, could follow that training model or
    • Could focus on one church or a group of churches or
    • Could offer a Conference Training where any church could send a team to be trained in Discipling!
    • Other options that fit local needs

Teams available to Conferences to support and encourage their own teams

National Teams train for Phase II

  • Available for follow up to Conferences that want to implement the next phase
  • Same goals as above

National Teams train for Phase III

  • Available for follow up to Conferences that want to implement the next phase
  • Same goals as above
